I expected Bob Barker to spend a large part of this book talking about all the great memories he had in the half-century he spent hosting Truth or Consequences and the Price is Right, but there was a lot more to his life than those two game shows. He's hosted many shows and events, and has done a lot of work supporting animal rights. Everyone is familiar with Barker's famous quote, "Help control the pet population. Have your pets spayed or neutered," but they don't understand the magnitude of the issue, which Barker takes so seriously for many obvious reasons. The animal rights movement has made monumental progress over the years because of him.
Barker proves he's a great writer and storyteller as he describes the many different things he's done in his life, and all the great memories he has from his childhood all the way up to the present when he was writing this book. We learn a lot about the people who have influenced him, and have also helped him achieve so much in life. Then, of course, we learn how deep his love is for animals, and why he so strongly supports animal rights.
Priceless Memories covers just about everything you'd like to know about Bob Barker and then some. There were a few times when he would get sidetracked for a little while, but everything he talks about is very interesting and intuitive. The quality of his writing really enhances this book, making it so good I didn't want to stop reading by the time I got to the end. Overall, it's a great book that really makes you respect what Barker has done, and continues to do, with his life. | This is a fun and very easy to read book!!! The Price is Right is not the same without the great Bob Barker!!! He is a nice guy and it was fun to hear him tell about his life. It's interesting and doesn't take long to read. I would have enjoyed more "behind the scenes" stories about the show and also a little more depth when talking about his personal life.
