Item Description... Overview Returning to the southwest Texas community of her youth, Shannon Astor runs into a man who once devastated her life and is astonished to see his daughter's uncanny resemblance to Shannon's believed-dead daughter.
Publishers Description
Can a secret be kept forever?
Five years ago, Shannon Astor left the beautiful high-mountain country of West Texas as a single mother. She was desperate for a fresh start...and a way to keep the secrets of her past buried. It almost worked.
Until a chance to make a better life for her daughter leads her right back home. To the very place of the past betrayals.
But it also leads Shannon to horse-trainer Jack MacGowan--her handsome high-school nemesis, now a widowed father. His daughter looks so startlingly like her own that Shannon can't help but question the circumstances surrounding her daughter's birth. Wary of each other's intentions, Shannon and Jack reluctantly join forces to untangle a deep mystery that swirls around Shannon's parents, a lost Spanish treasure, and a legendary black stallion.
If Shannon can learn to entrust her secrets to the man falling in love with her, the truth just might set her free.

 | Love, mystery and intrigue! May 10, 2010 |
| I really enjoyed this story by Colleen Coble. I won't tell you what the story is about since others before me took care of that. I thought it was very well written and really enjoyed the romance between the hero and heroine. It kept me wanting to come back for more. I found the plot to be very interesting and believable. I usually prefer historical romance novels but I'm glad I read this contemporary one and can't wait to get another book from Colleen. If I had to say anything negative then I would say that I thought the ending was just a bit rushed but I'm still looking forward to Lonestar Homecoming. | | | | LOVED it! Jan 14, 2010 |
| First, I just have to say WOW! This was one of those books I did NOT want to put down once I got started. It was absolutely amazing. I was mesmerized by the story lines and the characters. They were all made so real to me. There was enough in the plot to keep your stomach in knots the whole book but wasn't too much to make you confused. And everything was tied up neat and tidy at the end. No questions were left unanswered. I give it 5 stars! An excellent and amazing read except for the talk of scorpions, rattlers, and black widows (shiver). The book lived up to all of my expectations and more. I am very interested in reading more from the author. | | | | Fabulous Read! Jan 13, 2010 |
| This book is absolutely a fabulous read! I could barely put it down. The author Colleen Coble, weaves a beautiful story of intrigue, romance, and mystery all in one. The perfect combination for anyone looking to lose themselves in a book. The main character - Shannon - is a woman that most women can relate to. She must make some hard decisions in this book that will change her life and her daughter's life too. From the first chapter, the author sucks you in with a stunning revelation (you see it coming and yet you can't believe it would happen!). With all the great writing and storytelling, I can not wait to read another book by this author again!!! | | | | Loved it Jan 8, 2010 |
| This was a great book. I loved the horses part and all the lessons one can learn from it. | | | | Lonestar Secrets Thomas Nelson Book Review Oct 6, 2009 |
Lonestar Secrets is the story of a single mother who moves back to the hometown she swore she'd left behind forever. The book incorporates mystery, suspense, and romance as Shannon Astor finds a way to make a new life for herself and her family against unlikely obstacles.
The elements in this story were interwoven successfully, although the plot was not very realistic. I enjoyed the dilemma centered around Shannon's twins. However, I think that could have made up the bulk of the plot line instead of being solved so easily. I was bothered that she was so hung up on Jack's supposed betrayal. I was expecting a huge scandal or an accidental murder and was met with a very silly and immature act which should have been left in High School.
Coble has an easy way of writing, but does give in to some cliches when developing the romance. She took a lot of random things and made them into a huge, interlinking conspiracy of sorts and there were a few details, like Mary-Beth's involvement with a certain man of note in Shannon's small community, that were a little too perfectly lined up.
The characters all seemed to be very uninteresting without the extraordinary events. That being said, Shannon's sass and confidence were very appealing in a heroine, especially one that let the reader glimpse some vulnerability behind her very genuine strength. Jack was also a likable, if predictable, character.
Overall, this book was an easy and enjoyable read, if not taken too seriously. | | | Write your own review about Lonestar Secrets
