Item Description... In the year 1778, the War for Independence rages, and Becky Landers of Maybrook, Kentucky forms a plan to join the audacious George Rogers Clark on his dangerous mission, bringing gunpowder to capture the British forts of Kaskaskia and Vmcennes. She hopes to track down her brother, taken the year before by Indians. Naturally, she will meet every form of resistance to such an outrageous initiative from a 15-year-old girl. In this vivid and well-researched frontier novel, the historic figures of Daniel Boone, Clark, Sam Kenton, the Frenchman De Quindre, the Indian Black Fish and others interweave with Becky's adventures in as colorful a manner as their remarkable personalities deserve.

Becky Landers is a great book. I recommend it to anyone who likes adventure and fun. The main character was a fascinating character because she remained loyal, loving, brave despite her father being killed and her brother being captured by the Indians. She had to be the "man" of the family because she was the only one able to shoot a gun, hunt, and perform the many chores of the Kentucky frontier. Her whole family depended on her for survival. There are various historic figures in the book including Daniel Boone, George Rogers Clark, the Calloway Family, De Quindre, and Black Fish. This book really shows what life was like on the Kentucky Frontier during and after the Revolutionary War. You won't want to put this book down till the very end.
