 | Excellent Source of Information Sep 16, 2006 |
| This book is an excellent Quick Reference for those areas that you know you should know, but may have forgotten. Every student should have a copy for his or her own reference. | | | | The Parent Educator's Ready Reference Oct 4, 2000 |
| This book is proported to be "a quick source of basic information...for parents and students." I find that the material leaps from the most basic of information to obscurity without the neccessary meat between. Thumbing through the Language Arts section one finds listed "Commas" then suddenly looms the definition on "Onomatopoeia" with nary a "Semi-colon" between! The Math section is the most valuable in the books as the author does come through with lots of basic techniques for adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing, fractions and basic geometry but in my opinion he skips a beat and leaves out even the most fundamental laws of algebra. Under Science definitions for "atoms" and "molecules" are omitted in favor of "animal products" and "moon." Some may find the facts on presidents, famous explorers and states useful, but for me, it was not enough to warrant the price of the book. I am sorry to say gleaning information from this book is like a bologna sandwich without the bologna...the bread and the mayonnaise were nice, but it was just not filling enough. | | | | The Parent Educator's Ready Reference Oct 4, 2000 |
