Item Description... People are complex. There is behavior that we see and motives that we don?t. Behind the ?what we do? of our lives is the ?why we do it.? Edward T. Welch challenges us to peer more closely into the ?why.? He insightfully reveals that, according to God's Word, the heart is the source of all human motivation. Our hearts contain motives such as Pleasure, Meaning, Comfort, Success, Freedom, Respect, Happiness, Power, Control, Peace, Reputation, Love/Intimacy Welch encourages us to ask questions to discover some of our deeper motives: ?What do you hope for, want, crave? ?What do you fear? What do you worry about? ?When do you say, ?If only??

Reviews - What do our customers think?
 | This may or may not fit your needs Apr 10, 2010 |
The title seemed like a perfect fit for what I was seeking. When it arrived, I was quite disappointed to say the least. It wasn't a book, but a small 29 page pamphlet. Then I thought, I might have gotten a bargain. If everything I needed to know about "why I do the things I do" was in a small 29 page pamphlet then I could master it in about 30 minutes. What a great deal, right?
I sat down to dig in. The first couple pages were good. Then I realized on page 3 or 4 that this had mostly biblical and religious teachings. Since I am a simple mind and appreciate things to be straight forward and to the point, am not a religious follower (but spriritual) I was disappointed.
This pamphlet may be very appropriate, useful and well received by some, but it wasn't what I was looking for nor did it correspond to my needs. Had there been a reveiw on this book/pamphlet letting me know more concretely what it was, I would have shopped for something different. | | | Write your own review about Motives: Why Do I Do the Things I Do (Resources for Changing Lives)
