Item Description...

Overview
The Christian Atheist, by recovering Christian Atheist Craig Groeschel, is an honest, hard-hitting and eye-opening look into the ways people believe in God but live as if he doesn?t exist. From his own lapses in faith as a young man to the painful self-admission he had to make as an established pastor, Groeschel?s own journey will immerse you and challenge you into a deeper, Christ-filled life.

Publishers Description
'The more I looked, the more I found Christian Atheists everywhere.' Former Christian Atheist Craig Groeschel knows his subject all too well. After over a decade of successful ministry, he had to make a painful self admission: although he believed in God, he was leading his church like God didn't exist. To Christians and non-Christians alike, to the churched and the unchurched, the journey leading up to Groeschel's admission and the journey that follows---from his family and his upbringing to the lackluster and even diametrically opposed expressions of faith he encountered---will look and sound like the story of their own lives. Now the founding and senior pastor of the multicampus, pace-setting LifeChurch.tv, Groeschel's personal journey toward a more authentic God-honoring life is more relevant than ever. Christians and Christian Atheists everywhere will be nodding their heads as they are challenged to take their own honest moment and ask the question: am I putting my whole faith in God but still living as if everything was up to me?

Reviews - What do our customers think?
For the whole family  Jun 1, 2010
We have four children ages 12-17. We are reading the book as a family during our devotional time. Everyone is enjoying it and learning. We have laughed together and had some great conversations regarding the different topics. Great family book!

Not a theology of the cross.  May 26, 2010
Lutherans and conservative Christians beware! This book is page after page of "do it yourself Christianity". This is a theology of glory and not a theology of the cross. I must admit that I quit my reading just shy of half the pages, but I didn't see it turning to a sacramental approach, nor did I see the authors "need" for his Savior, rather, a resemblance to a Purpose Driven Life. If it mentions Baptism or the Lord's Supper. it isn't in the first 100 pages. I fear the average reader may come away with a false hope that one can make it on his own actions with a degree of synergism after reading this book. Stick to the Book of Concord, or, of course, your Bible, and let the Holy Spirit do His work.

A good book for a novice christian!  May 17, 2010
The Christian Atheist is a book that, for the most part, talks to men and women of God about living their life in faith that God exists. He discusses several situations in which many Christians live as though they don't believe in God. I have to say that this book is well written and the author did a good job and bringing it down to the level of the "normal" person. But with that being said, I gave this book one star because, in my opinion, he "dumbed" it down too much. As I read this book, I found it to be a waste of my time (but maybe not yours). I thought that his ideas were solid, but underdeveloped. In addition, I felt that this book was marketed to every Christian, but only effective for the novice Christian.

A must read!  May 11, 2010
This book is a must read for all new and not so new christians. It delves into subject matter that a person typically does not think about during their christian lives. It is a very easy read and the author seems very personable. I haven't enjoyed a book like this in quite a while.

The Christian Atheist  May 11, 2010
This book is a very easy read and is very relevant to the way so many of us live our Christian lives. I originally bought this book to try and use its contents as talking points with a luke warm christian friend, but found so many points applicable to my own life. I know I benefited from it greatly. It's a must read.
