| I read so many books on Judaic-Christian relations and I was starting to question Jesus' messiahship; I read this book and it renewed my faith. I'm excited to read the others. Wow, this is the best book I have ever read on the subject. Come to think of it, it might be the ONLY book I have ever read on the subject. Dr. Brown divides this book up into two parts. The first part deals witht he emotional objections that Jewish people might have toward Jesus ("Jews don't believe in Jesus!" "Believing in Jesus violates the Shema!" "How can I betray my ancestors who stayed faithful to the Jewish religion?" "Jesus is for the Goyim!" "If Jesus is the Messiah then why haven't our rabbis believed in him?").
The second part of the book deals with historical objections ("If Jesus is the Messiah, why is there no peace on earth?" "The Messiah is supposed to come in triumph, not in meekness and in death." "How can I believe in Jesus when there are so many anti-Semitic people who believe in him?" What about portions of the New Testament which seem anti-Semitic?"
Dr. Brown writes in a argumentative, debating type of style for a big part of the book, especially the first half, and this doesn't always translate well for the reader. You will feel at times like Dr. Brown is yelling at you, and I hope that if there is a future edition to this three volume series (he did say he hoped to eventually publish all the volumes into one binding), he will revise his style so that it won't seem quite so hostile.
But the content is fantastic, and I can't wait to read volumes two and three and now four!

i give 5 stars..we need more books like this...
there is thousands of jews who believe in jesus...we need to defend our faith against any jewish objections to jesus.

| I found the book interesting, concise, easy to read, challenging, heart-warming, convicting and heart-wrenching. Meeting and knowing Jesus is more than a one-time super-natural event. God's word, which Michael quotes, is super-natural to those who sincerely seek God's truth through His Spirit. Looking at past arguments and wins is utterly pointless and a waste of time if you ONLY want to glorify your own view. Isaiah said all of our deeds are filthy rags - our work sucks and if we're honest we will agree. Looking at current formulas for evangelism and anti-evangelism is like putting God in a box. God is too big for any of our boxes and His widsom, mercy and love is beyond our understanding. To God be the Glory. It is God alone who said 'Let there be light'. Since He desires to be known, He alone reveals His Truth. Go to God. Come, leaving your human wisdom at home because it is flawed - Proverbs 3:5-6 says ........trust NOT in your own understanding. Come, leaving your human relationships at home - Abraham trusted God and left home and God credited his trust as righteousness. Come in need knowing you don't have all the answers: Moses said to God, he couldn't do it.
