| We homeschool and love "A Reason for Spelling" books. Each week starts with a story using the words for the week. This is followed with a pretest and looking at the shape of the words as well as the phonics connection between the words. On the second day, students practice their spelling words according to their learning style (kinesthetic, aural, visual, etc.). (Spell your words with Play-dough, while bouncing a ball, or into a tape recorder). The third day deals with definitions of the words. The fourth day includes dictation and proof reading. There is an optional practice page included in the teacher's manual for those needing or wanting more practice. (Note: You MUST have the teacher's manual for these books or parts of them will be inaccessible to you). On the fifth day, a test is given. For those having a class, there is also a game presented.
