Item Description... Overview Recounts the story of Noah and the Flood, and explains what the Bible has to say about the date of the deluge and the appearance of the Ark as a structure that was more a floating chest than a boat.
Publishers Description God always has a plan; God always has a man. The plan: destroy the wickedness of the world. The man: Noah. How would you feel if you knew that God was going to destroy the world, and you had been chosen out of millions of people to continue the human race? This book is not just Sunday school material for kids, but the thrilling adventure of Noah comes to life through the dazzling, detailed illustrations and the exciting True Story of Noah's Ark. The images of the interior of Noah's ark are like nothing you've ever seen before. The people and cities depicted here are certainly more advanced than what you've been led to believe these people weren't cavemen They invented metals and musical instruments; they were skilled craftsmen; they built grand cities all BEFORE the Flood. And this is not fiction it's all biblically and historically based.

| Stop poisoning young minds with this garbage. Fairy tales are fun for kids, but don't pretend they're a substitute for science and facts. | | | | fabulous job on book! Jan 22, 2007 |
| What illustrations! It sent chills down my back just looking at the pictures! THIS is what the real Noah's ark was like!! Amazing! | | | | If Seeing is Believing - I Believe ! Jan 3, 2007 |
We all love Bible stories. Words are nice, but there are always so many words, and they're so dry and, well, unappealing,... !
Sure, the Bible's got the unequivocal historical facts, like how long the ark was, how wide, and how many of each animal were aboard in order to repopulate the entire earth with their species (of course everyone knows the answer is "two of each").
But those facts are so cold and hard and uncompromising in their factuality - the archaeologically/empirically-verified historical account can only take you so far.
As a modern-media Christian, you really need VISUAL punch, watercolor wonderment, a little of that Spielbergian movie-magic, to make the story of the Destruction of the Wicked World by a Wrathful but Just God come alive in your heart.
I think Noah's Ark should be a holiday - not just one day, but a whole month plus - a 40-day holiday - kind of like Ramadan, except valid. There'd be pool parties, treading-water contests, animal parades, just imagine the fun !
Surely the story of Noah's Ark, like the other historical anecdotes of the Old Testament, has a deep significance and relevance to us even in this day and age, as a parable of, well, what happens when people are wicked. (God will drown you). I think there's a lesson there, somewhere, for all of us.
Plus, as a bonus, it completely answers the question "What are rainbows and how are they formed ?" (answer: It's God saying 'Hm, Sorry about that, I Kinda Lost My Temper - Won't Happen Again, Trust Me.')
And "What kind of birds like to fly around with olive branches in their mouths ?" (answer: Doves)
If you read/scan/flip through this beautiful book, and are still skeptical about the verity of the whole notion of a worldwide flashflood and subsequent repopulation of all land animals from single breeding pairs, ... well then brother, I give up, there's just no convincing YOU, is there ?
| | | | Origin of the word "Genocide"? Dec 30, 2006 |
Forget those nagging questions such as the 23,000 foot depth of water needed to submerge the highest mountains, the lack of air and sub-zero temperatures at that altitude... My question is why this was taught to me and millions of other children as a cute fairy tale... instead of what it was... the first "Genesis"-ocide. Why do the illustrations show the cute giraffes and zebras instead of drowning babies? Why were the billions of sinless creatures and plant drowned along with the "sinners"?
Why would a god who supposedly "loves" humans do this? If he wanted to start over, why didn't he magically sterilized the human race(OK not Noah)... a lot simpler than the flood, and a lot less murderous, and take a more patient approach... after all, he has plenty of time. He set a fine example for Hitler, Stalin, Milosovec, etc. | | | | A different view of Noah's Ark Jul 29, 2006 |
| Until I had read this book the cute versions of Noah's Ark were my only image of this story despite having read the Bible's precise description many times. This amazing book has changed all that. I was fascinated to read and see that the exact dimensions of the ark, make it similiar to a box not a boat. It is not self propelled, but made to keep its passengers safe in the most severe conditions. The drawings are magnificent, and the story fresh and insightful. The only part I question is just how developed society was before the flood. Still, I recommend it highly. | | | Write your own review about The True Story of Noah's Ark (with audio CD and pull-out spread)
